Weekend Edition 45

Umberto Boccioni

States of Mind : The Farewells

You want to go, you want to stay. You are not sure what to do (The yellow structure in the lower left corner). But the attraction of new, of change wins over. You take the dive(the black structure in the lower left middle). Then the stream of journey takes you further and further away, where on one side everything is new and exciting and on the other side things remind you what you have left.

Commercial Street Carnivale

When you were little you liked fairs and folk holidays. The rides, the music, the food - it was pure joy. When you grew up you understand that they all are shallow standard commerce-driven enterprises. While getting old, the fairs regain their lost shine, but now that is nostalgia and memories.

As we know people love to watch. They love to watch not only what is happening now, but what has happened before. They love history. People have tendency to forget bad things, so naturally the historical events look much better than they really were. As the time runs the details of the events are lost. That puts a layer of mystery on the history. Mysteries attract people. Combine all of the above together and you get Nostalgia.

Return

This is your return home, where you grew up.Warm colors. Fireplace. Everything is familiar. It looks like a box with plasticine or a quill blanket your grandma used to make.Black rectangles are some embarrassing memories, probably from the high school. But it does not spoil your cozy nostalgia. You feel nice and warm, because you know that it is temporary, a long weekend or a vacation. At the end you will go back to more interesting stuff, to the unknown(the cloudy rectangle in the upper right corner).
